[Date Prev][Date Next][Date Index] RE: [HoB/D] communication of the non-baptized??
Jesus did not say to the thief on the next cross: "You in my father's kingdom?! Do you believe in some kind of cheap grace? Get real. Now repeat after me, very slowly and clearly, 'I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of Heaven and .....' Then go get baptized and come back and try again." I once asked contributors to vote on their favorite reason in my collection 365+ REASONS TO BE AN EPISCOPALIAN (http://andromeda.rutgers.edu/~lcrew/365plus.html. The first runner-up was the entry by Phillip Dana Wilson+: "Where the only requirement at Communion is that you be hungry!" Read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest. Redeemer in Morristown, NJ, where Phillip is rector includes that welcome in its service leaflets. Redeemer is one of the most vibrant parishes in our diocese. I regret that Morehouse did not include Phillip's reason in its reduction 101 REASONS TO BE AN EPISCOPALIAN -- the best seller of all Morehouse books at GC 2003. (All profits go directly to ERD.) Tom VanCulin wrote the most popular reason, so identified at the website above. Check it out. Do send me your own reasons for being an Episcopalian, so that I can consider them for inclusion in the collection, now at 514 reasons and growing. Ask people at your coffee hour to tell their reasons. Enthusiasm is contagious! The Episcopal Church is a secret too well kept! Go tell it on the mountain, in parks and in lanes and at tea!
