Mt. Carmel Church was begun from a Bible Study in 1978. From the very start,
a meeting place for the church was a rather large problem. After several
years of wandering, the pastor and his wife added a rather large room to
their home where the church began to meet in 1981. After complaints by
several of the neighbors, Franklin Township accused the Church of being in
violation of a zoning ordinance. A ticket was issued but the case ended
with a favorable decision by the New Jersey Supreme Court in 1984. We
currently occupy a new facility at
350 Franklin Boulevard, Somerset, NJ,
which is completely accessible to the handicaped.
From its inception, Mt. Carmel has been integrated and worship has been geared for maximum participation on the part of the congregation. We lovingly invite you to come and worship with us.
