regarding the March 13th meeting. The program will remain the same,
but
the keynote speaker has changed:
SGML and the Future of the Web: XML and Other Alternatives
Date: Thursday, March 13th, 2:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.(Keynote to
start
at 3:00 p.m.)
Place: The Conference Center at the NY Public Library's exciting,
new
Science, Industry, and Business Library (Information available at
http://www.nypl.org/research/sibl/index.html)
188 Madison Avenue at 34th St. (former B. Altman dept. store).
Entrance is on 34th Street near Madison. Conference Center is
located
on the lower level. Directions will be posted at the sign-in desk.
</bigger></fontfamily> IMPORTANT NOTE: The meeting is limited to 50
attendees and the NY
Public Library requires that a sign-in list be available for security
reasons. Please RSVP to Richard Barth at Data Conversion Laboratories
by e-mail (rbarth@dclab.com) if you plan to attend. We are close to
the 50 person limit, so reserve today if you have not done so. We
will
accommodate walk-ins at the door if possible but we cannot guarantee
that
space will be available.

Christopher R. Maden, Technical Support Product Expert at
Electronic Book Technologies, Inc.,
(a subsidiary of Inso Corporation), a DynaText product developer
(co-holder, pending patent on
DynaWeb's large document "chunking" algorithm) and an active member
of the XML Working Group
and the W3C (the World Wide Web Consortium) will discuss XML
(EXtensible Markup Language). He
agreed to come address the Forum on short notice when Stephen
DeRose, our original speaker, had
an unavoidable business conflict and was unable to attend.
ABOUT THE FORUM
The SGML Forum of New York is a nonprofit organization devoted to
the
exchange of ideas and information about SGML and related
technologies. Organized primarily as a user group, the Forum seeks
to
promote an understanding of the scope and benefits of the SGML
standard and to further its practical application within a variety
of
industries, including publishing, financial services, insurance,
pharmaceuticals, and telecommunications. Membership in the Forum is
not required for attendance.
