SEYBOLD: Just a reminder to all members of the SGML Forum of New
York that we will be hosting an "SGML Hospitality Suite" at Seybold
NY.
The event be held on the evening of Thursday, April 28th from 6:00 -
8:00PM in Hall 1E, Room 4 & 5, at the Javits Convention Center. You'll
hear from some of our members, share refreshments, and have a chance
to win some free SGML books & prizes. Feel free to point any of your
colleagues interested in SGML at the event as well. It's open to all
-- one more opportunity for us to grow the SGML community here in the
NY area.
Also, if you haven't heard about it already, plan on stopping by Booth
#446 to see the SGML Theater, being sponsored by SGML Open.
If you are an early riser, you can catch Forum members Chet
Ensign of Matthew Bender and Dale Waldt of RIA at a panel discussion
being hosted by Brian Travis, Chancellor of SGML University and
publisher (along with Dale Waldt) of <TAG>. The panel is at 8:30 AM
and the title is "New Desktop Formats for Electronic Publishing."
NEXT MEETING: Wednesday, May 21st, Tom Comerford of Microstar will
demonstrate an example of how SQL code can be integrated into SGML
documents and used to dynamically populate the document with tagged
tables in real time. Also, Texcel, Xyvision and Crystal Software will
be demonstrating their object-oriented SGML databases.
EMAIL LIST: Our last email broadcast messages have had a large number
of bad addresses. The good news is that this means this is a mobile
group of professionals! The bad news is that we don't automatically
know your new email addresses.
If you know anyone who ought to be receiving Forum messages but isn't,
please let them know that they can get on the mailing list by sending
and email message to Richard Barth at rbarth@dclab.com. Ask them to
send their name & organization along with their email address, and let
us know if they are a member.
