The Tenth Annual Writing and Computers conference will be hosted this
year by the University of Brighton in the lively seaside town of
Brighton, 60 miles from London.
The conference regularly brings together an international community of
people concerned with all aspects of computers and the writing process,
including psychologists, software designers, educational researchers,
teachers, journalists, authors and technical writers.
The theme for this year's conference will be Writing the
Future-potential
developments in writing with computers as we enter the next millennium.
Demonstrations of writing environments and similar software are
strongley encouraged. We have already arranged for several systems to
be demonstrated including the Composer system. We can offer PC,
Macintosh and Unix facilities and a technician will be available
throughout the conference.
Notes:
The deadline for abstracts has been extended to May 31st.
The good people at Text Technology have agreed to base a special issue
of their journal on papers featured at the conference. If you have not
read a copy of Text Technology then I thoroughly recommend it!
Here is how they describe themselves: TEXT Technology: The Journal of
Computer Text Processing, a quarterly, publishes articles dealing with a
variety of subjects concerning the production, examination, or analysis
of texts through electronic means. The quarterly will publish articles
on any theoretical or practical topic dealing with the electronic
production or analysis of texts.
Information leaflets have been mailed this week to people on the
Writing and Computers mailing list. Posters will follow. If you would
like to receive a leaflet or poster then please send your physical
address to WandC10@bton.ac.uk.

when you submit an abstract and we will inform the programme committee.
A set of proceedings will be available at the conference. We also
expect to arrange to publish selected papers in book form. Plus, as
