Dear Norm,
Perhaps this CFP would interest other PsyArters, particularly
since PsyArt is an online "community," and given your own writing on
cyberspace too!
At the end of the post are snail mail and e-mail address for
further inquiry or submissions.
Best to all,
--Cynthia L. Fortner

DEADLINE REMINDER--and EXTENSION: Call for Papers

CENTRAL NEW YORK CONFERENCE ON LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE
SUNY at Cortland, NY **** October 5-7, 1997

A panel discussion regarding writing in cyberspace:
*COMPOSING ONLINE*

NEW Deadline: July 1, 1997

Abstracts: Please submit 250-300 word abstract to the snail-trail
address below, but Email queries are welcome

Topic Ideas:

* How does E-mail composition differ from historical processes,
preparation, and publication--regarding planning and organization
of content?

* In what was\ys does the Web meet our needs (or not) for forensic,
epideictic, and deliberative rhetoric in our society?

* How does anonymity drive the content of messages (or responses)
that appear on listservs or in Chat rooms?

* What Burkean terministic screens might be involved in
(mis)interpreting computer postings, and how does Email composition
distort or enhance those screens?

* The Web of communities that has been created through online
discourse has given a voice to many previously silent groups of
the marginalized, but cyberspace may also result in yet another
frontier of exclusion. What are some pros/cons or hypotheticals or
prognosises for our "Web"bed future?

* How has e-mail changed our lives?
--New relationships emerging in virtual discourse?
--New awareness of AUDIENCE or PURPOSE?
--Due to time and (cyber)space compression, are messages
more casual, more succinct; or less thoughtfully
composed and received?
