There are various Unix-like packages for DOS. You should be able to
find a win32 port of the GNU text utilities and GNU sed at
ftp://www.cygnus.com/pub/gnu-win32/ (they pack the whole thing as a
giant .exe or tar.gz with everything in it, unfortunately. There is a
"small" version without the GNU development tools called "usertools"
-- get that. And read the FAQ and README in the same directory).
If you're stuck on something possibly even more braindead than
win32, you should be able to find old ports in the "gnuish MS-DOS"
project by searching for "gnuish" on your nearest friendly ftp server.

How come I'm not surprised. "windows grep"??
Hope this helps,
