Syllabus

This course will explore a wide variety of "revolutionary" texts from Britain, Europe, and America from the early seventeenth to the mid nineteenth century. We'll consider revolutions in science, philosophy, politics, sex roles, music, poetry, and the novel. Readings will generally be short but intense, and will likely include works by Descartes, Milton, Rousseau, Goethe, Mozart, Wollstonecraft, Marx, and Darwin.
