Computers and Literature
Autumn 1999
"The medium," said Marshall McLuhan, "is the message." This
course will explore the relationship between modern media and
modern messages, with particular attention to the brave new world
of the World Wide Web. Readings and discussions will address the
fate of reading, writing, and researching in the digital age, as
well as how earlier ages have dealt with their own technologies
of the word. Technical expertise is welcome but not necessary.
