The data file CPS78 contains observations on 20 variables for 550 individuals.

The 20 variables are:

ED is years of schooling

SOUTH is a dummy (1=lives in south; 0=otherwise)

NONWH is a dummy (1=nonwhite, non-hispanic; 0=otherwise)

HISP is a dummy (1=Hispanic; 0=otherwise)

FE is a dummy (1=female; 0=otherwise)

MARR is a dummy (1=married; 0=otherwise)

MARRFE is a dummy (1=female and married; 0=otherwise)

EX is years of potential work experience (equal to age minus schooling minus 6)

EXSQ is years of experience squared

UNION is a dummy (1=union member; 0=otherwise)

LNWAGE is natural log of average hourly earnings

AGE is age

NDEP is number of dependent children under 18 in the household

MANUF is a job sector dummy (1=works in manufacturing; 0=works in construction or service)

CONSTR is a job sector dummy (1=works in construction; 0=works in manufacturing or service)

MANAG is an occupation dummy (1=manager; 0=other)

SALES is an occupation dummy (1=sales; 0=other)

CLER is an occupation dummy (1=clerical worker; 0=other)

SERV is an occupation dummy (1=service worker; 0=other)
