Dear Louie and Deputies to GC 2000,
Several thoughts concerning the Colorado resolution. First is that democracy is often clumsy, rarely neat. It was said that Mussolini could make the trains run on time because he was a Dictator and answered to no one. Thirty years of experience at GC has left me in every condition from frustration and anger to sheer joy. I would hate to struggle so rarely and lose so many treasures.
Second, as an officer of the House of deputies, I am thrilled by all the conversation and dialogue as we prepare for Denver. I also am grateful to Colorado for stirring the pot ands look forward to seeing more discussion on these and other matters.
Finally, the Standing Commission on Planning & Arrangements will be meeting in New Orleans on January 14th & 15th. Some of these discussion points will undoubtedly be raised. Also, on January 17th, the Executive Council will begin its meeting, also in New Orleans. We plan to conclude on Thursday evening, January 20th. Please include both gatherings in your prayers. I will be back in touch folloing those meetings.
