It was the "Murray Commission" that gave us A069 at GC 1976 "Resolved, the House of Bishops concurring, That it is the sense of this General Convention that homosexual persons are children of God who have a full and equal claim with all other persons upon the love, acceptance, and pastoral concern and care of the Church." Bishop Murray was my own bishop in the 1960s when I earned my doctorate at the University of Alabama. I remember his graciousness when several others and I met with his Commission near the Atlanta airport months before that convention. He retired in 1981, well before most of the records that I have monitored. -- LC
