I herewith submit my resignation as Diocesan Bishop for the Diocese of New Jersey effective September 30, 2001.

It has been agreed that I will begin a sabbatical leave of absence as soon as an Interim Bishop is in place but no later than June 30, 1999. My sabbatical will continue until my date of resignation,

AGREEMENT
This Agreement made this 11th day of March, 1999 between the Diocese of New Jersey, a religious corporation of the State of New Jersey with offices located at 808 West State Street Trenton, New Jersey 08618 (hereinafter referred to as "Diocese") and the Rt. Rev Joe Morris Doss, Bishop of New Jersey (hereinafter referred to as "Bishop") and Susan Terkhule Doss, his wife (hereinafter referred to as "wife of the Bishop") residing at 21 West Long Drive, Lawrence, New Jersey hereinafter collectively referred to as the "parties" to this Agreement.

  1. . The parties to this Agreement have agreed that the Bishop will resign as Bishop of New Jersey effective September 30th, 2001.
  2. . The Bishop has submitted in consideration on the date of this Agreement his resignation as Bishop of New jersey effective September 30th,2001.
  3. . The Diocese has requested that the Bishop continue until an interim Bishop is appointed by the Presiding Bishop and, thereafter, the Bishop be granted a sabbatical until his retirement date of September 30th, 2001.
  4. . The Bishop has agreed to remain until he begins his sabbatical up to but no later than June 30th, 1999. Thereafter the Bishop will perform no Episcopal or other ecclesiatical acts without the consent of the interim Bishop. The Diocese will not disparage the Bishop and/or his wife at any time.

    NOW IN CONSIDERATION of the promises and mutual covenants the Diocese and Bishop and his wife further agree as follows:

  5. . The Bishop shall receive his full present compensation package until September 30th, 2001.
  6. . The Bishop shall receive retroactive and present increases in his compensation package of a total of $100,000 payable at any time within the next three years at the Bishop's request.
  7. . Upon retirement and for the rest of his life and his wife's life, the Bishop and his wife shall receive all health and other insurance benefits of a retired Bishop of the Diocese of New Jersey and his spouse.
  8. . As a supplement to his retirement income, the Bishop shall receive the sum of $33,333 per year beginning in September 2001 and payable for a total of six years ending in September 2006. Said payments shall be made to his wife in the event of the Bishop's death prior to September 2005.
  9. . There shall be an obligation of the Diocese to pay up to the sum of $200,000 at the rate of $25,000 per child per year for repayment of educational loans and payment of future educational expenses for undergraduate and graduate education for the children of the Bishop and his wife, namely Katherine Doss and Andrew Doss. Such applications for payment shall be made through Richard D. Catenacci, Esq. By presenting bills for tuition, room and board, and textbooks net of scholarship and grants which will be paid by the Diocese of New Jersey upon submission.
  10. . The Diocese shall repay to the Eisenhart Fund immediately prior to closing the second mortgage in the sum of $150,000 on the residence of the Bishop and his wife at 21 West Long Drive, Lawrence, New Jersey. The Diocese shall have a 20.21% equity interest in net proceeds after payment of the first mortgage and all closing costs.
  11. . The Diocese shall provide the sum of up to %15,000 to make reparis on said house on connection with the sale of said house, and additionally will pay the Bishop and his wife $30,000 in relocation and miscellaneous expenses, and $20,000 for motor vehicle replacement costs.
  12. . The Parties agree that in the event of the death of the Bishop that all compensation to be paid and benefits provided under this Agreement to the Bishop shall be provided and paid to his wife, Susan Doss, and in the event of her death to their children Katherine and Andrew Doss
