sessions for bishops and deputies, 2 p.m. Dinner of Quest
participants. Opening forum, 8 p.m.
Wed Jul GC Begins with opening Eucharist at 9 a.m., Preacher: Primate of
16 All Ireland, the Most Rev. Robert Eames, Archbishop of Armagh.
Evening, 7 p.m.: Integrity Eucharist, St. Luke's Epiphany, 330
South 13th Street, Canon Elizabeth Kaeton is the preacher;
Presiding Bishop Edmond Browning, the celebrant.
Thu Jul General nominations; GC's first public meeting at lunch, 1 p.m.,
17 Forum on Spirituality, featuring Esther de Waal of Wales, a
widely known writer on Benedictine and Celtic traditions;
Madeleine L'Engle, a member of the Episcopal Church who is an
award- winning author and popular retreat leader; and the Rev.
Martin Smith SSJE, superior of the Episcopal Church's Society of
St. John the Evangelist in Boston and chaplain to the House of
Bishops. 4 p.m., Joint Session: Bishops, Deputies & Triennial :
National Teleconference: Advocacy for Children
Fri Jul 2 p.m.: Joint Session: Presiding Bishop & Executive Council
18 Report. The Witness dinner, 6 p.m. at the Church of the Advocate,
1801 Diamond Street.; general elections
Sat Jul Principal Eucharist & UTO In-Gathering - Archbishop Carey will
19 preach; seminary night; nomination of President of House of
Deputies
Sun Jul Sunday morning free for worship in the area churches.
20 Environmental Eucharist in the morning on the Schuylkill River
and proceed to Church of Advocate, with Barbara Harris preaching;
the House of Deputies will elect its President and nominate its
Vice-President. Women's Caucus brunch(noon?). The Convention will
celebrate Edmond Browning's ministry at 8 p.m.;
Mon Jul GC's second public meeting. Election of the new PB; Episcopal
21 Peace Fellowship Dinner from 6-8 at Marriott; election of
Vice-President of House of Deputies. Forum featuring Hanan
Ashrawi, a Palestinian Anglican who was the official voice for
the Palestinians during the peace process, now a member of the
Palestinian National Authority and a minister for education. The
theme of the evening will be, "Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem."
ESMHE - -Higher Education and the Association of Episcopal
Colleges are hosting a party in support of Ministry in Higher
Education and Ministry to Young Adults, at the Mariott Hotel,
following the close of the legislative session.
Reception for tertiaries, oblates, associates and friends of
religious orders from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. at the Wyndham
Franklin Hotel, 17th and Race Streets.
Tue Jul Integrity lunch with the Righters, Wyndham Franklin Plaza Hotel,
22 12:45 P.M.; provincial dinners
Wed Jul Commission on Status of Women, 2 bishops of Mass.; Philadelphia
23 Parkway night out. Included will be the Philadelphia Museum of
Art, one of the nation's most prestigious, as well as the
Afro-American Historical and Cultural Museum, the Pennsylvania
Academy of Fine Arts and the Academy of Natural Sciences, the
Franklin Institute and the Please Touch Museum.
