Louie Crew's Tricks:nn:Getting the latest nn group list
Getting the latest nn group list
nn automatically stores in a file on your root directory the names of
all the groups in nn. nn accesses this file automatically to advise
you about accessing them when you enter the program.
Sometimes you may want to replace that file with the most current version,
such as when you have a corrupted .newsrc:

Answer:
To solve this problem I recommend the following ... remove the current
.newsrc file and run "nn". It will ask you if want to restore from the
backup file, answer "n", and then it will prompt you if you want to
rebuild the newsrc file from scratch, which it would do by picking up
the current active file from the server and generatic the appropriate
.newsrc.
