November 21-23, 1996
In the morning we checked in with one another and reviewed our agenda for this meeting.
In the afternoon, we met with Bridge Builders, a program of leadership training for young people, with participants from all incomes and cultures in Memphis.
Next we visited the Church Health Center, a network of medical services for the working poor, overseen by a physician who is also a Methodist minister.
Then we visited the Emmanuel Center, an Episcopal presence in the middle of the projects, low-rent housing for the poor in Memphis.
November 22-23
We responded in detail to the preliminary drafts of all five sections of our Blue Book report, plus the draft of the Study Guide, as prepared by Dr. David Crean.
At our meeting in New Orleans, commissioners agreed to prepare tentative drafts of resolutions in the following specific areas:
Louie Crew agreed to contact other interim bodies likely to have legislation for us to consider co-sponsoring.
Attached are copies of resolutions from all bodies in boldface.
