Louie Crew's Natter [BLOG][Date Prev][Date Next][Date Index] Shocking revelations regarding diocesan accountability to our common life
A recent report of TEC's Treasurer reveals that the Diocese of Haiti, in the poorest country in the western hemisphere, contributed to TEC in actual dollar amounts more than twice the combined contributions of 10 other dioceses: Diocese of Coloombia, zero Diocese of Dallas, zero Diocese of Central Ecuador, $500 Diocese of Litoral Ecuador, $1,500 Diocese of Fort Worth, zero Diocese of Honduras, zero Diocese of Navajoland, zero Diocese of Pittsburgh, zero Diocese of Quincy, zero Diocese of Sam Joaquin, zero Some others are generous: 54 of TEC's 111 dioceses contributed 15% of their 2005 income for 2007. I list all with complete records here in descending order of percent payments to the TEC budget: 21.2% Connecticut 21.1% Southern Ohio 20.7% New York 20.6% Massachusetts 20.6% Virginia 20.5% Los Angeles 20.4% California 20.4% North Carolina 20.4% Chicago 20.4% Atlanta 20.3% Olympia 20.3% New Jersey 20.3% Ohio 20.3% Indianapolis 20.1% Minnesota 20.0% Rhode Island 20.0% Western Massachusetts 20.0% Oregon 19.8% Maine 19.8% Hawaii 19.6% Central Pennsylvania 19.6% West Missouri 19.6% Kansas 19.6% New Hampshire 19.5% Western New York 19.5% Central New York 19.3% Milwaukee 19.3% Rochester 19.2% Maryland 19.1% East Carolina 19.1% Delaware 18.9% Arizona 18.9% Southwestern Virginia 18.9% Lexington 18.8% East Tennessee 18.4% Northern California 18.2% Spokane 18.2% Alabama 17.9% Nevada 17.8% Easton 17.7% Nebraska 17.7% Idaho 17.3% Alaska 17.3% Michigan 17.3% Puerto Rico 17.1% Western North Carolina 16.7% Washington 16.4% Eastern Oregon 16.2% Utah 16.1% Northwest Texas 16.1% Long Island 15.8% Iowa 15.6% Missouri 15.5% Arkansas ---------Above are the 54 (48.6%) most generous. 14.4% Southeast Florida 13.5% Vermont 12.5% Wyoming 12.1% Kentucky 12.1% Upper South Carolina 12.0% Southwest Florida 11.9% Northern Indiana 11.6% Northern Michigan 10.7% Eau Claire 10.1% El Camino Real 10.1% Montana 10.0% Eastern Michigan 9.5% Western Louisiana 9.4% North Dakota 8.9% Western Michigan 8.9% Bethlehem 8.8% Central Gulf Coast 8.7% The Convocation of American Churches in Europe 8.5% Oklahoma 8.3% South Dakota 7.9% Fond du Lac 7.8% West Tennessee 7.5% Western Kansas 7.5% Texas 7.5% Louisiana 6.6% Colorado 6.1% Southern Virginia 3.7% Tennessee 2.4% Rio Grande 2.2% San Diego 2.2% Central Florida 1.6% Litoral Ecuador 1.1% South Carolina 1.0% Colombia 0.8% Navajoland 0.4% Honduras For ther dioceses, information is missing or incomplete. I hope deputies from other dioceses delinquent in payments will inquire and report to us here. The Treasurer's report is based on information available as of March 28, 2008, and appears at: http://www.episcopalchurch.org/finance_52691_ENG_HTM.htm?menupage=865 In my report above, I recomputed the percents to one decimal point for the amounts shown at the treasurer's site, Louie/Lutibelle, L1 Newark
