Almighty and everliving God, source of all wisdom and understanding, be present with those who take counsel in Columbus for the renewal and mission of your Church. Teach us in all things to seek first your honor and glory. Guide us to perceive what is right, and grant us both the courage to pursue it and the grace to accomplish it; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Almighty and everlasting Father, who hast given the Holy Spirit to abide with us for ever: Bless, we beseech thee, with his grace and presence, the bishops and the other clergy and the laity soon to be assembled in thy Name, that thy Church, being preserved in true faith and godly discipline, may fulfill all the mind of him who loved it and gave himself for it, thy Son Jesus Christ our Savior; who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the same Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

A Prayer for General Convention
God of infinite patience:
stay with us through the long deliberations of our Convention;
when we fall into pettiness, remind us of the scope of your compassion;
when we find each other tiresome, help us call you to mind as the One who
has created and loves us all;
when we are self-righteous, show us again your Beloved, who humbled himself
to share our humanity;
when our words stretch out interminably, speak your mighty and precise word
in our ears;
and when the clouds of this world blind us, bring us out of darkness to see
only Jesus,
through whom we pray.

By your eternal word, O God, you call all things into being and fill them with your goodness. Be with your church gathering in convention by your calling in the coming days; fill it with your wisdom and your love, empower it with abiding courage and patience, sustain it through your spirit to carry out the decisions made in council; and in all things, grant that we in the Diocese of Name may greet the sojourner and the stranger at General Convention in a manner worthy of your son Jesus Christ our Lord, in whose name we pray. Amen.

Holy God, you promised Abraham and Sarah that you would bless them so that their descendants would be a blessing to all humankind. As Jacob wrestled with you throughout the night, refusing to let you go until you blessed him, grant each of us the courage to claim your blessing as our baptismal birthright. Open the ears of our bishops and General Convention deputies so that we can hear what your Holy Spirit is saying to the church. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen

Father, God, Once again, we gather in General Convention with thanksgiving and petition. We thank you for those whom you have touched, blessed and served through your Church and for those saints upon whose shoulders we stand. We pray, Lord, Bless those who gather in this convention. Give them ears to hear and eyes to see. Bestow upon them the gift of discernment that they might know and do your will. Unite them with a spirit of godly unity. Make them instruments, leading the Church to minister as you call it and serve as you have entrusted it. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
