One Author's Experience

During the period Jan. 1, 1989- May 12, 2007, editors published 1,128 of my works (62% of my total of 1,808 publications by 5/12/2007).  Only one manuscript out of every 7.9 sent (12.6%) was published.

During the same 19.4 years, 7,965 (87.4%) manuscripts were rejected..

Publishers averaged .8 month before deciding to accept or reject.

Of those who rejected it:

The last 1,539 to publish my work have averaged 17.1 months between acceptance and publication.

I do not spend my time miserly adding all these numbers.  Instead, a computer program called My_Agent tracks them automatically for me as it manages  circulations and bibliographies.  

I have no way to know whether my experience is typical, but I share the specific details in the hopes of demystifying the submission process.
