Subject: Same Sex Union Resolution
The resolution on Same Sex Unions that is being passed in various diocesan conventions grew out of the Second National Consultation of Episcopalians on the Blessing of Same Sex Unions that was convened in July of this year at the College of Preachers in Washington by Charles Bennison, Gene Robinson and Jane Garrett. Ed Bacon attended as did about 55 others. The Consultation had six areas of emphasis and working groups that produced work related to each area. The resolution was the work of the group on political structures. Jane Garrett has been keeping tabs on the progress of the resolution. Ed may have been in the group that drafted the resolution. The report on the work of the Consultation is in draft form and includes a rite for Blessing, theological reflection on the rite and pastoral and educational suggestions for it use.

Yep, that's exactly what was passed in Pennsylvania on Saturday, though the story only made it into the Philadelphia Inquirer Tuesday, and from there to AP, I guess. Pamela W. We are probably going to introduce it ine Newark also; I'm taking it to Michael F. tomorrow with the signatures of all the GC deputies. ================= Sat. 16 Nov. 96 To all: To date, my count is 5 dioceses as follows: Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, California, and Rochester. It was brought up in Colorado, and failed by only 1 vote. If anyone has any different information please share it.
