As a public school, Rutgers can offer tuition and fees significantly lower than those of its private-school peers. And, as a major research university, Rutgers provides academic programs that stand with the best in the nation - a reasonable cost, with no compromise in quality.
Information on:
Tuition and Fees
Tuition and fee charges are determined by the Board of Governors annually in mid-July. The EMPA has a program fee, which includes among other things the cost of books for all classes.
Loans for Tuition
Graduate student loan options include: Federal Direct Loans, Federal Graduate PLUS Loans, and Private Loans.
Those interested in low interest Federal Direct Loans must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) ( www.fafsa.ed.gov) using Rutgers University Code 002629. The FAFSA should be complated two to three months prior to the start of classes in order for the information to be processed in time. Students must complete a FASFA for each school year that they wish to be considered for Federal Student Aid.
Tuition Payment Plan By joining the Rutgers University Tuition Payment Plan (RUTPP) you are able to pay your annual term bill charges in convenient monthly payments. By planning early you can add your college term bill payments to your monthly household budget which allows you to avoid the large, lump sum payment due before the beginning of each semester. You can choose the number of months to spread your installment payments and the installment period is interest free. There is a $50.00 enrollment fee to join the plan. This fee is non-refundable and due at the time of enrollment.
Benefits This is an interest free plan. Unlike a loan, you can join this plan and pay monthly without accruing interest or having a large debt at the time of graduation. If you budget with Rutgers you can reduce the amount of loans you will need, and in turn reduce the amount you actually pay for your education.
Tuition Protection Insurance on the plan member is provided at no additional cost. If the plan member, the person financially responsible for paying the bill, dies during the contract period, the balance of the contract, up to the total tuition and fees owed at the time of death, will be paid by Rutgers University, provided that your monthly contract payments are up to date.
Plan Choices
Annual payment plans range from 6 to 12 months beginning prior to the start of the fall term and ending in the middle of the spring term.
Semester and Summer plans range from 2 to 5 months beginning prior to the start of the term and ending mid-term.
In order to take full advantage of payment plans, students should complete the admission process and enroll in classes at least two months prior to the start of the term.
