The Online Graduate Certificate in Government and Nonprofit Financial Management offers busy practitioners interested or working in the government and nonprofit sectors an opportunity to develop competencies in important elements of financial management and performance.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM This certificate program has been designed to address the rapidly changing environment in government and nonprofit financial management brought about by the current fiscal crisis. The new reality requires that individuals in public organizations reorient conventional thinking about budgeting and financial management and move to amore systemic approach. Students will gain an understanding of the conventional thinking on these issues, as well as an appreciation of how changing conditions foster new thinking and approaches. The courses prepare students to sit for the Certified Government Financial Manager exam sponsored by the Association of Government Accountants.
WHO SHOULD ENROLL New financial managers and other management professionals in government and nonprofit organizations who do not want to commit to a graduate program but who wish to:
- Acquire greater knowledge of finance to advance in their careers
- Pursue new careers in financial management
- Upgrade their skills
CURRICULUM Candidates for the Online Graduate Certificate in Government and Nonprofit Financial Management program must complete twelve (12) credits of coursework – four (4) courses. Each course represents three (3) credits. There are two (2) core courses in the certificate and students can then choose either the government or nonprofit track and take two (2) more courses for completion of the certificate.
