Text: Shelly Cashman Series: Custom Edition
Published by Boyd & Fraser (A Division of South-Western)
It is unlikely that you will find this customized book anywhere other than at a bookstore in the Rutgers vicinity. Because of frequent changes, old "used" copies may be inconvenient to use

Sessions:

The initial 8 chapters cover a great deal of basic information; read them carefully. It is important that you learn the concepts and do the Key Terms & Checkpoint exercises at the end of these chapters (EoCE = End of Chapter Exercises). Many of the questions will appear in the tests in their original form. Please, keep up with the reading. There is more material than you can cram.
Note that chapters on MS Office tools are called Projects. You find the "In the Lab" exercises at the end of Projects. You need not do these in a lab; you can do them at home! The pages shown in the assignment may vary slightly depending on the version of the book that you have.

NOTE: The following lists are subject to minor revision. Homework assignments will be appended.

Homework Assignments
Bring 1 or 2 diskettes to all classes. Be sure they are not full. Always carry an empty one, if possible. Make back-ups often and keep those at home.
Color Code: GREEN to be handed in; BLUE reading (if underlined, it is a hyperlink); RED due date

In some instances, you need to download material (data or graphics) from the Shelly Cashman website. Clicking on http://www.scsite.com/wd97 will connect you to the Word97 web page. Individual projects have their own web pages, e.g., Project 1 is in http://www.scsite.com/wd97/pr1.htm.

The work you submit must be your own. Cite all sources in a bibliography

Do not discard your files on the 1-page papers. You will need them to post on your web page and to turn in at the end of the term. Items marked in GREEN will be collected.

You must properly label the Assignments that you hand in -- or you may not get the credit you deserve.

As instructed in the syllabus, on the upper right-hand corner of the first page handprint your name, section, the correct assignment number (e.g. 1 for Jan 25), due date, and problem numbers actually included in the packet. Submit each homework, separately.
