Housing Applications

Thank you for your interest in on-campus housing at the Rutgers University Newark Campus. There are also a variety of special interest housing options. Students who apply for housing after May 15th will be assigned based on the priority criteria listed below. All students interested in on-campus housing must apply separately from their application for admission to the University.

Housing assignments are determined based on several criteria including but not limited to the following:
*Geographical distance from student’s home address to campus, with students that live the furthest away receiving a priority.
*Date that your housing application is received, with students that apply the earliest receiving a priority.
*Certain academic programs and campus involvement also receive additional priority for housing.

How To Apply:

For first year or transfer undergraduate students in the Newark College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Nursing:
Shortly after the Admissions Office notifies you of your acceptance to the University, you will receive an e-mail that directs you to the on-line housing application. We strongly encourage you to utilize the on-line application to apply for on-campus housing. If you have already accepted your admission you may access the on-line application directly through the following link:

For all Graduate Students, current Rutgers Newark students that do not presently live in Rutgers housing, and undergraduates in the Newark University College:
You may download a copy of the application via the link to the right. Please see the Student Housing Application Download process to the right. You can then mail or fax a hard copy to our office.

For all current Rutgers Newark resident students:

Current resident students will be receiving information with details of the returning student room selection process by the middle of February.
