Located on the corner of Central and University Avenues, next to Woodward Hall, residents find it very convenient to the University community. Accommodating nearly 600 upperclass and graduate students, University Square is the first new housing built on the campus in 16 years. There is an open air gateway through the building, which provide's easy access from the campus to local attractions such as the highly acclaimed Newark Museum and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC). Other amenities include a computer lab, study/social lounges, television lounges, a laundry room, and vending area. The first floor houses a wide variety of retail space all aimed at the unique needs of students. The first floor also hosts a multipurpose room and a security desk that has a security officer 24 hours, 7 days a week. At this security desk are interior and exterior cameras, phone access to University Police, as well as a computerized guest system, where residents can choose to register their guests in advance or at the security desk. Each apartment has ribbon windows that run the length of each room to provide natural lighting. Floor to ceiling windows in the lounge space on each floor provides plenty of natural lighting as well and a great view of New York City and Newark. The unique space on the first floor includes a laundry room, vending area, office space, and resident mailboxes.
