Accessing your files through the Web

OIT—Newark provides many ways to access your files remotely. The tested and supported methods are listed below.

Use Internet Explorer 5 or higher

These links only work with IE. If you use any other browser, you will only be able to view and download your files

  1. Access your andromeda account directly (special link)
  2. Access your pegasus account directly (special link)

Windows built-in "Web Folders"

  1. Use IE's File->Open, type in the URL, and check "Open as Web Folder"
  2. Connect to
    https://andromeda.rutgers.edu:8443/andromeda/
    or
    https://pegasus.rutgers.edu:8443/pegasus/
    and explore
  3. OR

  4. Create a new Network Folder in My Network Places using the wizard

Use a WebDAV-compatible client

If you have a Mac with OS X 10.4.x or higher, you can:

  1. Pull down Finder's Go menu
  2. Click the Connect to Server... item
  3. Set the Server Address to be
    https://andromeda.rutgers.edu:8443/andromeda/
    or
    https://pegasus.rutgers.edu:8443/pegasus/

If you have a Mac with OS X 10.3.x or lower, you can:

  1. Download Goliath
  2. Install it
  3. Configure it
  4. Connect to
    https://andromeda.rutgers.edu:8443/andromeda/
    or
    https://pegasus.rutgers.edu:8443/pegasus/
    and map a drive

If you are running Windows 95 or higher, you can:

  1. Download WebDrive from the MSSG Software Portal
  2. Install it
  3. Configure it
  4. Connect to
    https://andromeda.rutgers.edu:8443/andromeda/
    or
    https://pegasus.rutgers.edu:8443/pegasus/
    and map a drive

If you are using UNIX or Linux, you can:

  1. Download Cadaver and access it like a commandline FTP client
  2. Install it
  3. Connect to
    https://andromeda.rutgers.edu:8443/andromeda/
    or
    https://pegasus.rutgers.edu:8443/pegasus/
    and explore

Other methods (currently untested)

If you are using Firefox, you can:

  1. Install Open As Webfolder, a Firefox Add-on
  2. Access your andromeda account directly (special link)
  3. Access your pegasus account directly (special link)

If you are using Konqueror, you can:

  1. Download Konqueror, part of KDE
  2. Install it
  3. Access your andromeda account directly (special link)
  4. Access your pegasus account directly (special link)

If you are using Linux, you can:

  1. Download DavFS and mount your home directory from home
  2. Install it
  3. Mount
    https://andromeda.rutgers.edu:8443/andromeda/
    or
    https://pegasus.rutgers.edu:8443/pegasus/
    and explore
